As a society, we depend on teachers to prepare children to survive and thrive in the real world. Yet, sometimes they aren’t enough. “The Modern School” (if you haven’t read it, you should here) addresses this issue by separating students and teachers, but there is something more, and it can really finish the concept. It is the use of video lessons. Free online websites like Khan Academy are amazing in helping students all around the world. They provide for some students another perspective on how to teach the same material. This is very beneficial, as students may not understand their teacher’s methods. Since “The Modern School” is in favor of using technology to benefit the school system, it would be very easy for teachers just to put in an optional video to go along with a day’s notes.
